There have been several questions asked about what type of software is available to install on campus systems for these communications tools. We are starting this post for questions, recommendations, and technical information.

So far WebCT 4.1 has no blogging or Wiki integration. Instructor can only embed a link in the LMS hosted by other service providers. But WebCT 6/Vista has several: Elegg, Vista PhpWiki, Vista RSS Feed Powerlink. Blackboard has serveral Building Blocks Modules. Bb-Podcasting Building Block is another one developed by open source. I'm not sure if Angel or D2L has one. Please add if you know some. As to open source like Moodle and Sakai, it's very easy to adopt any php and mySQL based blogging, RSS, and Wiki applications because of the open source developers' efforts. Shouhong
